Erik has provided music for numerous projects, including drama, documentary and animation. Whatever the context, Erik is driven by the need to understand a client’s aims - be it in story terms or in the visual language and is then able to provide music to reflect their vision.
Some of the soundtracks that Erik has created...
...the folk-tinged Country & Western music on the Sioux Indian reservation in the Badlands, South Dakota.
Kim Hopkins Director of WANTED: "I first heard Erik's work whilst he was a student at the NFTS. I made a note as Erik comes from a rock/pop music background as opposed to clasically trained, yet at the same time he was getting a film composer's training at the NFTS - a rare animal indeed. Erik proved to be absolutely the right composer for my film WANTED, a film that required a score to live in its own right. He was very open to ideas, even ideas that would not necessarily show his musical abil1ity in the best light i.e. out of tune vocals. Erik never loses sight of what's best for the film. He uses a language a non-musician like myself can understand and relate to. What can I say: I'm delighted with the score Erik produced, he was a pleasure to work with and many who have seen WANTED have remarked on the music and some have even enquired about buying the score on CD. As a footnote, he is also a great songwriter."
