Erik is a talented multi-instrumentalist, with a particular passion for world music and unusual ethnic instruments.   This does not stop him from enjoying and playing western instruments, whether in a traditional or innovative way.

VOICE: The power and diversity of the human voice is a wonderful creative tool - a constant element in most of Erik's work and not confined to words only!

GUITAR:  Erik has played the acoustic guitar since he was a child.  He has a collection of acoustic and semi-acoustic instruments.  He is particularly interested in the West African approach to guitar.

PIANO:  Erik has played piano (and keyboard) from an early age.

DJEMBE: West African hand drum - the master drum.

BALAFON: West African xylophone, lovingly termed the "talking wood"

MBIRA: A Thumb-Piano from Zimbabwe with various derivative instruments across Africa -Kalimba (South Africa);

BIRAM BAU: Brazilian Bow & Gourd with overtone harmonics controlled by opening and closing the mouth of the gourd against your lower body while striking the single string for note and rhythm - the pitch is further fluctuated by changing the tension of the string as you play.

FLUTES: Orchestral; ethnic and blown pipes of all description - wood, plastic and metal

OTHER: Harmonica; percussion
